The challenge
Ghost nets, fishing nets lost or dumped at sea, keep trapping marine life for decades and threaten small-scale coastal fishing. CarrefourSA wanted people to see that the loss could end with abandoned fishing villages.
The idea
TBWA\Istanbul used four tonnes of ghost nets collected from the Sea of Marmara to cover Ocaklar village in Balıkesir, turning a living fishing village into the ghost town it could become. The campaign, known in Turkish as Hayalet Ağlar (Ghost Nets), carried the line that there is still a chance. Organic Film produced the film, directed by Yiğit Karagöz.
