The challenge

Sustain character, setting and camera continuity through a film designed as one continuous shot. The makers describe Fukushima as fiction inspired by the events of 11 March 2011, with invented characters, rather than a documentary reconstruction.

The idea

Stay beside a veteran engineer as routine work becomes an escalating emergency. Restrained performances and a documentary-style visual treatment make his loss of control the dramatic centre of the film. The public project explains the continuity challenge and provides the production assets.
