Caritas rebuilt Pope Francis's former popemobile into a mobile children's clinic serving families in Gaza.

The challenge
Children in Gaza have little or no access to medical care while humanitarian aid flows are heavily restricted.
The idea
The papal vehicle from the 2014 Holy Land visit was refitted with a reinforced chassis, medical equipment, vaccine refrigeration and its own power supply. It now delivers paediatric emergency and trauma care and carries medicines, working alongside other mobile clinics in Gaza. The Pope gave the project his blessing in his final months.
Results
- Able to treat around 200 children a day
- Helped inspire seven additional mobile clinics across Gaza
