The challenge
Daw's entry frames the Saudi Games as 'the first national Olympics in Saudi history', open to male and female athletes alike. The first edition opened in Riyadh in October 2022 with more than 6,000 male and female athletes in 45 sports, five of them para-sports (Saudi Olympic & Paralympic Committee).
The idea
The film argues that sport 'is not just a hobby; it can become a way of life, which requires a heroic mindset and championship-level determination', and follows 'the persistence of Saudi youth' to encourage them to compete (MUSE entry). Its stills show a fencer, a team in a floodlit stadium, a sprinter in the blocks and wheelchair basketball.
