Meta gives 1,000 AI glasses to Singapore's disability community

Meta is donating 1,000 Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses to people with disabilities in Singapore, with the aim of helping them live more independently. The recipients are the Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped, Guide Dogs Singapore, the Singapore Disability Sports Council and Gardens by the Bay.

Meta is also giving the Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped a US$30,000 grant. The association will build and run a free accessibility curriculum on using the glasses for tasks such as identifying objects, reading text and using voice commands.

Meta's Chief Global Affairs Officer, Joel Kaplan, announced the donation at an accessibility showcase co-hosted with the Singapore Disability Sports Council. Eric Chua, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, was guest of honour. Kaplan said Meta wants the glasses to reach the people who stand to benefit most.
