The challenge

SKF, a bearings and friction-reduction company, wanted to show its role in renewable energy without the usual specs-led B2B pitch. Against a new space race for off-planet resources, the partners argued that the Moon's energy is already available on Earth through the tides (SKF; Cannes Lions).

The idea

Minesto's tidal kite LUNA, rated at 1.2 MW and flying in the tidal streams off the Faroe Islands with the local utility SEV, was presented as a spacecraft harvesting moon energy; SKF designed the bearing and sealing systems for its rudders and elevators. SKF rolled the campaign out worldwide from 27 March 2025 with films, social media, editorial content, a press event and a dedicated website.
