The challenge
Suncorp data released at launch showed that 'more than 2.7 million Australian addresses are at high risk of at least one extreme weather peril' (Mediaweek). The case behind the campaign says the barrier was apathy: 81% of Australians have lived through extreme weather but only 17% have a plan to protect their home (as reported by Famous Campaigns).
The idea
Haven uses property, location, weather and natural-peril data so that any homeowner, 'not just Suncorp customers', can enter an address, see the home's weather risks and receive a tailored video and a downloadable resilience report (Mediaweek; Insurance Business). Suncorp says it 'uses ethical AI technology to give every home a voice in a tailored video that represents its age', telling owners its estimated risk of bushfire, flood, cyclone and storm with tips to prepare. Google's 3D Tiles and Street View show the home, CoreLogic supplies property data, Geoscape links it and WillyWeather adds live weather. It launched in May 2025 across outdoor, TV, cinema, social and digital channels as the latest step in Suncorp's 'Building a More Resilient Australia' platform.
Results
- 323,186 visits, 223% above target, and 79% of users said they would make their home more resilient, according to case figures reported by Famous Campaigns
- Suncorp's home insurance market share rose from 13.4% to 15.8%, according to the same case figures
