7-Eleven sells its Korean menu through a seven-part micro K-drama.

7-Eleven is promoting its new Flavors of Korea menu with A Convenient Love, a short vertical K-drama series on Instagram and TikTok. Episodes start on 2 November and run until 23 November, each tied to a discount on one dish.

The menu went on sale in late October, with eight new items, according to C-Store Dive. They include bibigo spicy chicken dumplings and a bibigo Korean BBQ-style pizza made with the Korean frozen-food brand, gochujang boneless wings, a Korean BBQ-style taquito and sausage on the roller grill, and a Seoul Style Sweet Heat chicken sandwich at its Raise the Roost locations.

The series follows two students whose lives keep crossing on late-night snack runs. Its director, Danny Lee, said in a statement that the team made seven vertical episodes, shot them in a real 7-Eleven and put the food at every turning point in the plot. Tubefilter puts the episodes at about 60 seconds each. C-Store Dive says new episodes go up every Monday and Thursday, and Adweek also reports the per-episode offers.

The format is getting crowded. YouTube said in October that microdramas passed 6.5bn views in the first half of the year. None of the reports names an agency for the series, and 7-Eleven hasn't said what it cost or how it will measure results.

Our read: tying each episode to a dated, single-item offer gives a short series a sales job, not just a reach number. bibigo, which handed its GCC experiential and shopper marketing to PurpleGlo in October, is one brand that could try something similar with Gulf convenience and delivery partners.

Why it matters

It's a simple model for branded microdramas: each episode sells one product with one limited-time offer, so the series can be judged on redemptions rather than views alone.
